The initiation and propagation of thermal fatigue cracks in gray cast iron vemicular graphite were investigated by Uddeholm method to reveal the complex behaviors iron. Differences observed analyzed. It is found that differences are related combination morphology oxidization matrix. More oxidized matrix due its large specific surface area. brittle facilitates microcracks along layer. By contrast, radial formed vermicular at edge fewer layers. indicates resistance dominated content while strongly relates strength
